Summer Part-Time (as needed) Custodian

Texas Lutheran University is seeking applicants for part-time Custodians during the summer terms (May 12th – August 15th) This position is primarily responsible for cleaning the building to which he or she is assigned.  TLU is seeking reliable individuals that meet the following requirements:

• H.S. diploma or equivalent or two years custodial experience may be accepted in lieu of education
• Minimum of 4 months of custodial experience
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand and/or walk for 90% of up to an 8-hour workday.  Job requires lifting, reaching, stooping, and bending
• Must have good oral communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and employee relations skills
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality
• Must have a sincere desire to put the customer first
• Must possess or be able to acquire a valid Texas driver license
• Judgement is needed to plan and make decisions about work organization
• Ability to work independently and with other custodians
• Understanding of and appreciation for a church-related university

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:  cleaning designated areas with an assigned team; scrubbing, buffing, stripping, neutralizing and waxing floors, vacuuming and shampooing carpets, cleaning rooms and bathrooms, and safely mixing cleaning agents/chemicals.
