William "Sunny" Sneckner '52 Continues His Support Toward Scholarships

From the Office Of Development & Alumni Relations

William R. “Sunny” Sneckner, Jr. graduated from Texas Lutheran College in 1952 with a major in pre-theology, Christianity. The most important thing he received from TLC was strengthening his life as a Christian. He grew up in a Christian family, and TLC made his faith even stronger.

Mr. Sneckner had great admiration for his professors and wonderful relationships with classmates and teammates. So much so that he cancelled his original plans to transfer to the University Of Texas at Austin to finish his degree. He enjoyed being involved in sports, especially football, but he also played baseball and ran track. One of his favorite coaches was Red Miller. Not only was he a good coach, but he was also a very good friend and the best man at his wedding.

Sneckner is very proud of his family which includes four children, fourteen grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. He has been married 66 years to his sweet wife Lova.

Sneckner's professional life has brought him and his family great success of which they are truly grateful. His first business venture was with the help of Lova’s father where he opened two independent service stations. Over the next ten years he and his partner added more until selling the business with a total of 17 stations. After that he entered the fast food business building a small chain of seven restaurants. When he sold this business, he went to work in Commercial Real Estate, and after one year formed his own company, Sneckner and Associates, Inc. Sneckner and Associates, Inc. has been involved for over 40 years in the San Antonio Commercial Real Estate market.

He has served on numerous boards over the years. He is most proud to be an Elder on the Board of Elders for Concordia Lutheran Church in San Antonio. He remembers his time at TLC fondly and has established a scholarship to assist future students with their studies at the university.
