DIY Bookmarks, benefiting Ball Early Childhood Center
Pick up your DIY Bookmark Kit on October 20 in the ASC from 1 - 4 p.m. Create your bookmarks by yourself, or join via Zoom (TLU students can RSVP on Connect@TLU) on 10/22 from 5 - 6 p.m. Drop off your bookmarks to the ASC on October 27 from 1 - 4 p.m. We’ll be donating the bookmarks to young readers at Ball Early Childhood Center. Habitat for Humanity Build Day

National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI) Fall Fest

Calaveras y Poesia: Celebrando Dia de Los Muertos

Teatro De Artes De Juan Seguin in collaboration with Texas Lutheran University Center for Mexican American Studies and the Indigenous Cultures Institute of San Marcos will be bringing this cultural celebration to your computer and/or mobile device. Due to COVID-19 and our commitment to keeping staff, presenters, and participants safe this year’s event will be held via Zoom. Join to learn the history of Dia de los Muertos and be a part of the celebration.
West End Neighborhood Project Clean Up
Sunday, November 1, time TBD
Help to collect trash, litter, and debris from the neighborhood next to TLU, the West End. Masks and social distancing will be enforced during this all-outdoors project. Gloves and trash-getters will be provided to assist with efforts. Contact Amy Guerrero for more information.
Guadalupe County Elections Office
Tuesday, November 3 (Day Shift: 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.; Night Shift: 6:30 m.-close)
The Elections Office is looking for TLU students to serve as paid workers in their office, particularly with inventory and paperwork. If you’re interested, contact email@example.com. Spots are filling up fast and the pay is $10 per hour.
Equessense is hosting a virtual walk/run 5K during the month of October. A virtual 5K is completely flexible and completed on your own terms. You choose the time and place that you'd like to run or walk and then submit your time via email to me. You may send a screen shot of your fitness tracker or just the time. Participants will receive a t-shirt and also have the opportunity to win a medal. Please sign up at www.equessense.org under the Equessense 5K link before October 16. To pay the race fee, which includes shipping, follow the 5K donations link. Equessense is a completely volunteer run nonprofit that provides therapeutic horseback riding for special needs individuals. Every dollar earned by this event will go directly to the care of horses and scholarships for riders.
Seguin Youth Sports League is looking for volunteers to help on Saturdays with their Flag & Tackle football season. They need people to run the yardage chains and yardage markers for three games. Masks are required and social distancing will be enforced. Email Josh Bright if interested.

Teatro de Artes de Juan Seguin is looking for community members to submit art to their digital online exhibition, celebrating Latinx Heritage Month. The exhibition is open to persons ages 15+ and they are seeking Texas Artists who are either experienced, emerging, and/or new to the visual arts scene. Digital submissions are being accepted from September 15 - October 15 via email and the exhibition will go live on Saturday, October 24 on www.teatrodeartes.org. Ball Early Childhood Center is looking for TLU students to serve as volunteer virtual buddies, creating short video lessons on a weekly basis to be shared with remote learners. If you’re interested in this opportunity, contact Elise Gray.
Communities in Schools is looking for TLU students to serve as volunteer virtual reading buddies and/or math tutors for kids in local elementary schools. Scheduling tutoring or reading times can be semi-flexible with your schedule, but you would need to be committed to helping for the full semester.
