Representing TLU, the Bulldog Investment Company team of Auriana Bird, Esam Hijazi, Dillan Wendel, and Luis Green defended their title at the Texas Portfolio Managers Competition (TIPS). Beating out MBA programs from Baylor, Rice, Texas State, and the University of North Texas, this is the third year in a row they have won and the fifth time since 2016 that they have finished in the top three.
TIPS is put on by the Chartered Financial Analyst Society and represents chapters from Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana with approximately 45 to 50 universities represented. Students are given 10 minutes to introduce their program, outline their methodologies, and document their performance of a student managed investment portfolio where they have used real money—not simulations. After presenting, they field 10 minutes of often difficult questions from practicing professionals.
Since its inception more than ten years ago, The Bulldog Investment Company, led by founder and alumnus Dave Sather, has see their TLU portfolio grow at more than 16 percent per year, outperforming the market by more than two percentage points per year or 83 points cumulatively.
