Summary of Everything You Need to Know for Spring:
TLU Health & Safety Community Pledge: The pledge signed by TLU community members in August is still in effect. As a reminder, TLU faculty, staff, and students pledged to act in a way that promotes our own health and wellness while also protecting and supporting others around us. We also pledged to demonstrate respect, patience, and understanding under these most unusual and challenging circumstances.
#CampusClear: Faculty, staff, and students do not need to complete #CampusClear beginning Dec. 20 through Jan. 3. Exception: Students who are living on campus during Winter Break and ABSN students, faculty, and staff who have a different academic calendar will need to continue using #CampusClear.
- Staff returning to campus on Monday, Jan. 4, should start completing #CampusClear on Monday, Jan. 4.
- Faculty returning to campus on Monday, Jan. 11, should start completing #CampusClear on Monday, Jan. 4.
- Students moving on campus on Tuesday, Jan. 12, should start completing #CampusClear beginning Monday, Jan. 4.
- If you will be on campus occasionally, please complete #CampusClear on a daily basis.
- If you are 100% remote and do not plan to be on campus during the semester, you don’t need to complete #CampusClear.
- ABSN faculty, staff, and students should continue to use #CampusClear throughout December and January. Semester break for ABSN is January 16-31.
TLU Daily COVID-19 Report: Our Daily COVID-19 report will be on hiatus until Monday, January 4. TLU Health Services will be monitoring the #CampusClear app daily during the holiday break as we will have some students living on campus and our ABSN students, faculty, and staff will be at the New Braunfels campus during this time. Questions related to COVID-19 testing, exposure, and contact tracing should be directed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Academic Instruction: Courses in the spring will be a mix of face-to-face and online. Please refer to the TLU Spring Course Schedule for a complete list of TLU courses and their designation. Students who need to pursue remote learning because of health-related circumstances should contact TLU Health Services about their needs and accommodations.
Residence Halls: All campus housing assignments this spring will be singles, with residence hall rooms being assigned one resident and apartments being assigned two residents, one in each bedroom. For questions about housing, email email@example.com.
Dining: Campus dining options remain the same, but hours of operation will change and can be viewed here. Don’t forget to download and use the new Sodexo Bite Universities app. The Bite U app allows you to order from your office, home, or anywhere on or near campus. Select your food choices, a pick-up time, and then go to Hein Dining Hall, Lucky’s Snack Bar, or Tschoepe Café to pick up your order. Download the Bite U app through the Apple Store or Google Play:
Student Testing and Health Services: TLU has contracted with Guadalupe Regional Medical Center Care Clinic located on Highway 46 and Clear Springs to see students at no cost for an initial visit and COVID-19 testing if needed. Students should email firstname.lastname@example.org for a referral. Students will need to present their TLU ID and medical history upon arrival. The clinic is open every day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Students are also able to access TLUCare, a free 24/7/365 telehealth service that offers online medical and mental health counseling services. Medical providers and counselors are Texas board certified and specifically trained on student health. Students can learn more and sign up here.
Faculty and Staff Testing: For information about testing, faculty and staff should contact their doctor and/or access care the way they usually do. If you need help finding a doctor or accessing medical care, call 2‑1‑1 and they can direct you to low- or no-cost providers in your area. People can get tested for COVID‑19 at public testing sites or drive‑thru locations in certain parts of Texas. View COVID-19 testing sites in Texas here. Isolation and Quarantine: The isolation and quarantine protocols outlined on tlu.edu are still in effect. As a reminder:
- If you have been directly exposed to a COVID-positive individual: Self-report through the #Campus Clear app, contact a health care provider, and notify your supervisor and/or professors that you will need to quarantine. You must remain home for 14 days after exposure to ensure development of the illness does not occur and you cannot return to work or class until TLU requirements are met.
- If you have tested positive for COVID-19 and have symptoms: You must isolate and cannot return to work or class until 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared and 24 hours have passed since your last fever without the use of Tylenol and symptoms have improved.
- If you have tested positive for COVID-19 and do not have symptoms: You must isolate for at least 10 days since your first positive COVID-19 test.
Please note that these protocols are based on CDC guidelines, which direct us to consult with local health officials regarding timelines. Given the current external environment, our regional medical director has advised us not to shorten quarantine and isolation periods at this time.
