Margaret Friederich Osberg '62 graduated from TLC and subsequently received an Master of Science in Counseling in l975, from Peabody of Vanderbilt University. She then became an Elementary School Counselor in Fairfax, VA schools for 17 years. Her husband was in the US Air Force and was stationed in England for several years before permanently settling in VA. Mrs Osberg hopes to attend Alumni & Family Weekend this year.


Jo Ann (Berg) ’67 and husband Michael Megahan celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 26, 2019. They renewed their vows at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wilmington, NC. Her sister, Kay Berg ’64, helped them celebrate.


Mike Mattern ’69 attended TLC during the school year of 1965-1966, and then transferred to Texas A&M where he received a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. He began working for Brown & Root, Inc., in Houston during the summer of 1969. During the 1970’s and 1980’s he lived and worked internationally in London, Singapore, and Madrid. His work also took him to many places in Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, and South America. After over 50 years with Brown & Root, and its associated companies of Halliburton and Kellogg Brown & Root (KBR), he retired in early September. He married Angelika Diehm of Wertheim-Dertingen, Germany. They have two sons, Alan and Brian, three grandsons, Andy, Emerson, and Alex, and one granddaughter, Lenora.


Rick Leal ’81 has been living and working in the San Antonio and Schertz areas since graduation. Rick has three sons (Patrick, Matthew, and Mark), and a daughter (Lauren). Patrick graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Management from UTSA. His son Matthew graduated from St. Mary’s School of Law and is an officer in the United States Air Force. Mark is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin where he studied Biochemistry. Lauren is a current TLU student and is expected to graduate in May of 2020 with a degree in Management and Marketing.


David Weden ’86 currently serves as Chief Administrative Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Integral Care, the local mental health and intellectual and disability authority for Austin and Travis County. He also serves as President of the National Association for Rural Mental Health, Chair of the State Medicaid Managed Care Advisory Committee, President of Via Hope, and a board member of the National Association of County Behavioral Health and Developmental Disability Directors. Chris Elley ’98 is part of the management team and investors of cloud technology company iCoreConnect Inc., which announced the public trading of its stock in 2019. Elley joined the management team as Chief Innovation Officer in 2018 when iCoreConnect purchased Electro-Fish Media Inc., previously owned by him and his wife. iCoreConnect specializes in cloud-based communication software, as well as cloud-based health care practice management software. The company was accepted into the prestigious StartUp Health collection of companies with the long-term goal of achieving 11 health moonshots.


Brian Burpo ’19 has started his first year of pharmacy school and will graduate in 2023 with a Doctorate of Pharmacy degree at the University of Texas at Austin.
