Incoming and Returning Students
Important information for students who are new or returning to campus this fall.
What Students Can Expect
Whether students are joining us online or on campus, we want them to feel safe and supported during the Summer B term and fall semester. We will continue to provide updates on this page so students and their families know what they can expect regarding housing, classes, student activities, and athletics.
Health & Safety Guidelines for Summer B Students
We have made the decision to reduce the number of July (Summer B) face-to-face classes from 8 to 4 (moving 4 of the original face-to-face classes to online delivery). In addition, we will run a small number of labs and Nursing clinicals in face-to-face format. Students enrolled in face-to-face instruction will be required to follow TLU's COVID-19 health and safety guidelines and complete a Statement of Student Screening form daily prior to coming to class or lab.
Fall 2020 Housing - Single Rooms Only
Residence Life is reinitiating the housing sign-up process for the 2020-2021 academic year due to changes being made for the health and safety of our students. All housing assignments this fall will be singles, with residence hall rooms being assigned one resident and apartments being assigned two residents, one in each bedroom. The deadline for students to reapply for housing is Monday, July 6. For questions, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Frequently Asked Questions - Housing
Why has the decision been made to have only one person per room?
In an effort to provide students with campus housing in the safest environment possible, we have decided that one person per room would be best as it will limit risks of exposure within a living situation.
If I am part of the Fall 2020, Fall 2019, Spring 2020 class, do I need to do anything?
Yes, you will need to go to the my.TLU.edu portal and reapply for housing by Monday, July 6, as housing options for fall have changed.
What options are available and for whom? How will you decide who goes where?
Freshman housing options will be Baldus, Clifton, Trinity, Centennial, Knutson, and Hahn. Sophomores and other approved students will reside in Seguin Hall and the apartments. All assignments will be coordinated by the Residence Life Office. We will do our best to accommodate requests, but we will have some limitations.
I am an upperclassman and I want to apply for one of the possible additional spaces that may be available, how do I do that?
You will need to complete this form: https://form.jotform.com/tlureslife/fall2020housingrequest. All request forms must be received by July 6. They will be reviewed by a committee of campus faculty or staff, and space will be subject to availability and decisions will be made the week of July 15. A back-up plan is encouraged as there will be no guarantees.
I am a junior or senior and signed up for housing in April during housing selection, will I be able to live on campus?
Unfortunately, we will not have enough space to house all students who have requested housing this year due to limited space. You can request housing through the process mentioned in the question above, but it is no guarantee as space will be limited.
Our Residence Life team has been in contact with apartments in the Seguin and New Braunfels area to get more information about leasing availability and terms, pricing, and amenities. They've compiled this information sheet for TLU students.
Will there be an extra cost to living on campus since all rooms will be single rooms?
No, we will not increase the cost of housing. All options will be charged at the double room rate.
Can I cancel my housing application if I decide to move off-campus?
Your initial housing application submitted in April/May has already been cancelled for you as part of the consolidation of housing space leading to single occupancy. If you complete a new application, the cancellation date will be July 13 and any cancellation after that time will be subject to the cancellation terms and agreement in the application.
How will bathrooms be cleaned and disinfected?
In Centennial Hall, Seguin Hall, Hahn Hall, and Knutson Hall community bathrooms will be cleaned by our university custodial staff. The apartments will continue to be the responsibility of the two assigned residents. Suites in Seguin Hall will also be the responsibility of the residents.
If I live in a suite, will you provide me the name of the other suitemates?
Yes, if you email email@example.com we will provide you the names of your suitemates.
