Testing Proctor

Texas Lutheran University invites applications for the part-time position of Testing Proctor for the Department of Nursing. This position is responsible for administering exams and monitoring nursing/pre-nursing students throughout the duration of their nursing department exams. Hours will vary based on nursing testing schedules. Total number of hours could change week by week and some exams may require arrival before 8am or staying after 5pm.

Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare testing room as assigned; ensure white noise machine in place and computers have Lock-down Browser loaded.
  • Check in and verify identification of students.
  • Complete ATI Testing Proctor training and maintain competency with administration of ATI tests.
  • Support the setup and administration of computer-based or paper-based examinations.
  • Provide examination instructions and follow examination policies.
  • Monitor students during examinations.
  • Document/report inappropriate behavior.
  • Maintain a quiet/silent atmosphere for testing; free from distractions, door closed, etc.
  • Check out students when nursing exam is finished

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required. College degree preferred.
  • No experience is necessary, but some experience in testing or proctoring testing is preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written and spoken English.
  • Ability to think critically and problem-solve.
  • Attention to detail; ability to follow written or spoken instructions
  • Must be flexible with work hours and days; must be punctual, responsible and organized.
  • Ability to work with computers and have a basic understanding of computer operations, along with computer technical and trouble-shooting skills.
  • Must be willing to serve others and support the needs of the nursing students and faculty.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Work effectively as a team member
  • Logistical scheduling and planning skills
  • Ability to anticipate and effectively adapt to changes in program requirements and methodology
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body
