Director of Development Marketing

Texas Lutheran University seeks a talented and strategic Director of Development Marketing to manage communications with and for the offices of Development and Alumni Relations. This position will report to the Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations. It is a full-time position with some evening and weekend hours.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain the webpages for Giving and Alumni Relations.
  • Assist in developing social media content that goes out for Alumni Relations.
  • Write and produce donor, student and alumni spotlight stories to use in newsletters, magazines and emails.
  • Manage the production and printing of the President’s Impact Report annually.
  • Coordinate and produce printed collateral for development and alumni relations.
  • Coordinate and produce alumni & donor newsletters/magazines.
  • Review all communication pieces for the department.
  • Provide editorial assistance and support to the Marketing Department by coordinating communication projects to include the printed TORCH Magazine and on-line monthly magazines.
  • Coordinate with TLU Marketing to understand and share information regarding institutional marketing.
  • Research and incorporate best practices as practical and appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required
  • Minimum of three to six years’ experience in communications, marketing or development, with experience in higher education, highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Considerable judgment is required
  • Must be an excellent writer and editor
  • Expertise and facility with development writing, e-marketing, social media and web communications
  • Knowledge and understanding of the use of photography, video and multimedia and ability to direct such projects from start to finish, provide direction
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Ability to effectively plan, implement and evaluate
  • Must be a highly motivated self-starter
  • Ability to effectively manage others
  • Must be able to maintain an important level of confidentiality
  • Must support the mission and strategic plan of Texas Lutheran University
