Texas Lutheran University invites applications for a part-time as needed temporary position of Campus Activities & Student Engagement Intern. This position assists with the programming to meet the needs of a diverse student body in relation to the mission of Texas Lutheran University and goals of the Student Affairs Division. This position reports directly to the Director of Campus Activities & Student Engagement and assists the Director in overall development of the Office of Campus Activities & Student Engagement.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist with overseeing and directing all student organization activities:
  • Help plan and coordinate the implementation of the Fraternity & Sorority Life leadership education and retreat.
  • Develop Bulldog Orientation weekend programming and online education
  • Oversight of campus activities website and portal
  • Ensure that programming operates within approved budgetary parameters
  • Conduct a research project that may assist office in program development, assessment and student leadership
  • Understand and support the mission of Texas Lutheran University

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, enrollment in a Master’s degree program in Student Personnel, Student Affairs, Higher Education, Counseling or related field.
  • 1 year part-time or graduate assistantship experience working in Student Affairs, specifically with student programming or undergraduate experience in the field can substitute
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a student organization
  • Membership in and experience leading and /or advising social fraternities or sororities
  • Demonstrated experience planning, implementing and evaluating small to large scale university events
  • Knowledge of evaluation techniques and methods
  • Knowledge of emerging student issues and trends
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work well within a team
  • Ability to work with ethnic, cultural and socially diverse student populations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to represent Student Affairs and the University with enthusiasm and effectiveness
  • Proficiency in software experience: MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint & Publisher
  • Manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and other business machines is required.
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends and attendance at evening and/or weekend events may be required.
