What is Senior Challenge?
Senior Challenge is your first chance to give back to your soon-to-be alma mater and to help make student life at TLU even better for the next generation of students. Through your gift to senior challenge you are showing your appreciation for the many opportunities TLU has and continues to provide you. You are also participating in one of TLU’s greatest traditions and creating a legacy for future students to enjoy.
This year the Senior Challenge Committee asks you to participate with a gift of $20.09 in honor of our graduation year. With this gift you will get an official Seniors 2009 T-Shirt. However, all contributors will receive recognition in the Commencement Program and the final issue of the LSL and receive a commemorative pin to wear at graduation. The final check for Senior Challenge will presented to President Ann M. Svennungsen at Commencement in May.
Class participation is our most important goal so we encourage you to give at any level if you can’t afford the $20.09 (but come on… that’s just 4 Starbucks coffees, or two dinners, or one night out!). So please join us in making this year’s Senior Challenge the most successful yet!
Where Does the Money Go?
You get to choose where your gift goes!
By giving to TLU’s Annual Fund, you are supporting the improvement of student life on campus. This fund pays for updates to the library, computer technology, post-season athletic travel, campus beautification, choir and band recordings, and a lot more.
OR
Support the Annual Scholarships Fund. Almost all TLU students benefit from some type of financial aid. Give future students the same opportunity that you have received.
OR
You can give a gift specifically to programs and organizations that have supported you in your time here at TLU. Whether that’s the soccer team, the biology department, or your fraternity/sorority, you are able to leave your mark on the things that matter to you most.
Why Give?
Maybe you’re thinking, “I already pay tuition. Why should I give more”? Here are some answers:
- Tuition, along with state and federal funds, covers about 74% of the cost of your education. The support of alumni and friends helps cover the rest. And the more support TLU receives, the better it becomes.
- As seniors, we are leaders on this campus. It is important for us to set an example for current and future students.
- Publications such as U.S. News and World Report consider the percentage of graduating seniors and alumni who give back as a factor in determining national rankings. More alumni donors mean higher national rankings, which make your diploma stand out and you more likely to get a great job.
- Senior Challenge is also a great way to start and stay involved with TLU. Join TLU’s distinguished donors who give each year and become a member of the generous family that advances our University.
- Leave your unique legacy behind.

How to Give
Option # 1
Find a member of the Senior Challenge Committee around campus or at events.
They are always willing to answer any questions and will ensure your gift gets to the right place.

Option #3
When you sell your books back to the Bookstore, drop part of that money into the Senior Challenge bucket.
Option #4
TLU has prepared you for success in the future so make a
pledge to give your gift over a year’s time.
