Service and Social Organizations
Big Brothers / Big Sisters Across America If you like little kids and you want to be a mentor to someone then this is the organization for you! Big Brothers and Big Sisters is a nation-wide organization that matches children in need with a big brother or sister. Applicants have to go through an interview with the agency and then they will be matched appropriately. Last year was the first year TLU has had this organization on campus. This year we are going to have many new opportunities and exciting activities planned for the "littles" and their "bigs."

Rotaract is a student based service organization. That is the college affiliate of Rotary International. We provide campus, community and worldwide service through various activities held throughout the school year. For example, we raise money for Oxfam, a national hunger awareness foundation, whose ultimate goal is to stop world hunger; Trick-or-Can, an interesting food drive held throughout the community of Seguin; provide two literacy programs for a local elementary school; in addition to an Easter Egg Raffle, which benefits a developing school in Mexico. This organization requires a $5 membership fee for the fall and spring semesters.

Through SMAD, students and other participants will have personal growth, help others grow and strengthen their understanding of what it means to serve others and themselves.
