Greek Council Greek council is the governing body of all social greek organizations. Members are appointed through their respective fraternity or sorority. Meetings usually occur bi-monthly.

Inter-Fraternity Council The purpose of IFC is to coordinate the overall policies and activities of the social fraternity, further relations between social fraternities, act as a medium in cooperation between the administration of TLU and individual fraternities, and to intermediate between the student body and the member organization. Activities include, fall gathering, spring gathering, rush, and spring formal.
Membership Requirements This council shall consist of representatives from Alpha Phi Alpha, Omega Tau, Sigma Phi Theta and Zeta Chi.

Fraternities
Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Talented Tau Tau Chapter The objective of Alpha Phi Alpha is to stimulate the ambitions of its members; to prepare them for the greatest usefulness in the causes of humanity, freedom and dignity of the individual; to encourage the highest and noblest form of manhood; and to aid down-trodden humanity in its efforts to achieve higher social, economic and intellectual status.
The most remarkable leadership in the African-American community in the 20th century has without question come from the ranks of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Since its founding, the fraternity has supplied voice and vision to the struggle of African Americans and people of color around the world.
Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., the first black Greek lettered organization, was founded on Dec. 4, 1906, on the campus of Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. Seven aspiring black men felt a pressing need to pull together and organize themselves into a brotherhood. These seven men also known as the Seven Jewels – Henry Arthur Callis, Charles Henry Chapman, Eugene Kinckle Jones, George Biddle Kelly, Nathaniel Allison Murray, Robert Harold Ogle, and Vertner Woodson Tandy – created the fraternity as a social and literary organization because of segregation and other social problems facing black students. As a literary organization it developed into a fraternity.

Omega Tau has a great history of relationships with its alumni as well as the faculty here at TLU. The Omegas participate in Greek Games, TLU Intramurals and are proud participants of community activities. We pride ourselves in brotherhood, scholarship, integrity, and social prestige.

The Sigma Phi Theta fraternity is primarily concerned with the individuality of each person and their academic achievement while attending TLU.

abergstrom@tlu.edu Zeta Chi Being a member of a fraternal organization does not necessarily mean fitting into a mold or having a certain look. Zeta Chi lives by its motto, "Individually we stand together." What this means is that wherever you go, or whatever you do, you will always be a part of the Zeta Chi brotherhood.
Zeta Chi is actively involved on campus as well as tackling various off-campus projects. We have volunteered in youth flag football games by serving as referees and coordinated projects for the municipal government of Seguin, Texas.
Contrary to popular belief, fraternity life is more that what you see in the movies. Being a member is a useful tool for meeting new people with similar interests and academic pursuits. We, the members of Zeta Chi, encourage you to look towards pledging a fraternity. Pledging can be one of the most important decisions you could ever make.

Sororities
Beta Alpha Sigma Ten girls who wanted to pledge their friendship to each other started Beta Alpha Sigma in 1934. We are the oldest sorority on the TLU campus. From the beginning, we have worked hard to develop a long-standing run of tradition, honesty, friendship, and unity. We have one school-wide party each semester and we do various community service projects including a spring clothes drive, planting flowers on campus, visiting local nursing homes, and the beautification of Texas Lutheran University.

mpaiz@tlu.edu Kappa Pi Gamma Kappa Pi Gamma is a sisterhood that holds all of its members in union with a strong bond of Christian love. We provide wholesome social activities that strengthen school spirit among Texas Lutheran University students.
The sorority was established in 1948. We pride ourselves in the diversity of our members. We are involved in many programs, sports and clubs here at TLU. We do take time from our busy academic schedule to enjoy social activities and events. Also, we sponsor a variety of service projects to support TLU as well as the Seguin community. No matter what we do, the Gammas remember that it's our faith, friendship, loyalty, love, and kindness that make us a strong and bonded sisterhood.
