Process Objectives
Process objectives ensure that our service and leadership is connected to our own individual lives and the impacts that it can have on our life plans. By allowing for uncertainty, asking ourselves the difficult questions of why we do things. the very important question of not only why we serve but also what does service connect our leadership skills and service experiences by providing opportunities to explore issues within small group discussions. We identify our many experiences before, during and after so that we can learn not only what impact the experience had on our lives, but also how those experiences can shape our future decisions. This helps us to understand our own individual responsibility to be leaders of our own lives in order to lead successful lives. In order to achieve that success there are skills that we need to develop and learn. We can then apply those leadership skills, combined with our education and experience, to venture out into the world with greater impact and success. These skills are essential to our own success in finding our purpose in life. The Center engages students in just such opportunities. The activities, events and programming of the Center are student driven or for the benefit of the student. This allows for every student that comes to TLU the opportunity to serve in whatever way they feel best fits their educational, moral or spiritual growth and development.
The Center’s programming seeks to achieve two objectives. The first is the development of student leaders within the Servant Leadership model so that students gain the skills necessary to empower and transform themselves and their communities. The second is to organize and support service learning on the TLU campus and beyond through service directly connected to classroom learning, campus learning and collegiate life.
