The Academic Experience

The academic program at Texas Lutheran University is designed to provide students with a well-rounded education in the liberal arts and sciences, and to create an atmosphere for the realistic application of this knowledge in today’s fast paced world and competitive society. Whether a student desires direct employment after graduation or plans to attend graduate school, the academic foundation at Texas Lutheran serves to strengthen such educational and personal goals. Diverse student interests are provided for through the various programs offered across campus.

The academic program at TLU is a challenging one that requires time, attention, and effort.  However, within that environment of challenge is a well built scaffolding of support to help students meet and exceed university and personal expectations.  Professors know students by name and work with them individually within smaller classes.  Academic advisors (all full-time professors) work with their students not only on degree planning, but educational goals and additional learning opportunities within their majors.  An Academic Support Center offers assistance to all students through individual and group tutoring, supplemental instruction, and betterment of overall study skills.  Additionally, services offered through the Career Services Office, Counseling Services, and various programming throughout the Student Life and Learning Division all add up to supporting the student to be successful in whatever endeavors they may choose within the academic experience at Texas Lutheran.
