Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity International is an ecumenical, Christian housing ministry that seeks to eliminate impoverished housing from the world and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. The TLU Campus Chapter of Habitat for Humanity International is dedicated to raising awareness about the rising levels of poverty and homelessness. Students host educational and fund raising events in addition to working at a Habitat house site in Seguin.

RotarACT
Meetings: Second and fourth Thursday of every month

Rotaract is a student based service organization. That is the college affiliate of Rotary International. We provide campus, community and worldwide service through various activities held throughout the school year. For example, we raise money for Oxfam, a national hunger awareness foundation, whose ultimate goal is to stop world hunger; Trick-or-Can, an interesting food drive held throughout the community of Seguin; provide two literacy programs for a local elementary school; in addition to an Easter Egg Raffle, which benefits a developing school in Mexico. This organization requires a $5 membership fee for the fall and spring semesters.

Students Making a Difference (SMAD)
SMAD is a vehicle through which the entire TLU community may become involved in volunteer activities.  These activities are not limited to the Seguin community.  SMAD's purpose is to promote a spirit of volunteerism as well as an awareness of the responsibility all have to the entire human community.  Through SMAD, students and other participants will have personal growth, help others grow and strengthen their understanding of what it means to serve others and themselves.

Young Democrats
The purpose of the TLU Young Democrats is to encourage voter registration, promote education on current political and social issues, provide a way for students to become involved with issues in the community and to advance the ideals of the Democratic Party.

The TLU Young Democrats also wish to help provide a better understanding of the need for a multi-party system in the United States and the reasons why a multi-party system works.  Everyone in the Young Democrats has a voice that is heard and everyone is encouraged to use that voice.
