September 24 Food Committee Meeting

The meeting began at 6:00pm in the Timmerman Room at Hein.  Everyone attending introduced themselves.  There were no minutes read due to this being the first meeting of the year.    Those in attendance from the Sodexho Staff were Jim Wilkes, Rosie Dietz, Erica Vega and Kimberly Smith.  Faculty and staff from TLU were Matthew Saenz, Kristy Quiros, Kyle Wych, Deanna Zapfe, Lee Shands ,Teala Robinson and Lana Urbanek.  TLU students in attendance were Eric Hood, Thomas Snooks, John Worlow, Victoria McLaughlin, Madeleine St. Martin, Kristina Polley, Bethany Morgan Gohlke, Courtney Kopatic, Ellen Pritchett and Josephine Halon. 

The meeting began with Lucky's Kennel at the ASC.  Several changes were made during the summer this location and Sodexho wanted feedback from new and returning students.  Several comments from the students regarding the changes: 

1. Burgers at Grille 155 are better that last year.
2. Students like the option of fresh fruit instead of fries at the grille.
3. Students would like to have the wraps, cheese stix and popcorn chicken back on the grille.
4. Students would like to see the candy sold again in Lucky's.
5. More flavors of baked chips at Lucky's
6. Chicken tenders as a grille option at Lucky's
7. Students do not like the new cups and lids at Lucky's.
8. The new drink “Fuse” is a great addition to the beverages at Lucky's
9. Running out of Bluebell ice cream and Smoothie mix at Lucky's
10. Morning muffins are much tastier this year at Lucky's
11. Some menu items at Lucky's are not available to purchase due to not having the product in the house.

Hein Dining Hall suggestions and comments: 

1. Fresh fruit being offered is really appreciated.
2. Chef received many compliments on the Gumbo that is served.
3. More broccoli and cheese soup.
4. Steaks are not as good as they have been in the past.
5. Would like to see Greek gyro's at the Innovation station- more inter-continental foods.

 

At the end of the meeting, Lana Urbanek, discussed the proposed Cyber Café at the library with the committee.  General concessions was not to move Starbuck's from Lucky's.
