Frequent Questions About Food Service

How do I get food when I am sick?

If you are sick and unable to leave your room, it is still important that you eat. Should you be sick, you may have  a room mate or someone you trust come to Hein Dining Hall and pick up a to go meal with your ID card. Please remember that this will only be allowed when you are sick. Only you are allowed to use your meal plan, and this is the only exception.

How can I eat when I am in class?

Sodexho will do whatever possible to accommodate your class schedule. Hein Dining Hall is open continuously from 7:30 a.m. to 7:15 p.m. On Monday and Wednesday nights, we serve Late Night Dining from 9 - 11 p.m. Lucky's Kennel is open until 11 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday nights as Hein does not serve Late Night. By coming to one of our facilities before or after your conflicting class, you should be able to eat a hot meal. How can I eat when I am at work?

Work is much like the class schedule. If your schedule is still a conflict with your meals, you should contact Jim Wilkes for further action. Because work is usually scheduled for continuous hours unlike classes which are scheduled in shorter time increments, you may have more difficulty finding a time to eat. most offices on campus which employ student workers will work with you if you are scheduled for a long period of time. Another option to consider is working for Sodexho. Not only will we schedule you around classes, but there are benefits as well. If you work a four hour shift, we give you a free meal.

What are Bulldog Bucks and Dining Dollars?

Bulldog Bucks and Dining Dollars are the same thing with one exception.  You may use Dining Dollars and Bulldog Bucks for snacks at Lucky's Kennel OR use Dining Dollars for extra meals at Hein Dining Hall if you have already used your meals for the week or semester up on your meal plan. Dining Dollars are a part of your meal plan, where Bulldog Bucks are purchased separately. Dining Dollars DO NOT roll over from semester to semester and you will lose the remaining balance if you do not use them. Bulldog Bucks roll over as long as you are enrolled in Texas Lutheran University. When you leave, you may request that your remaining Bulldog Bucks are refunded to you, less the fee for the Business Office to process the check. Bulldog Bucks are purchased separately in the Business Office at any time you wish to purchase them. Remember, there are also contests and specials where you can win Bulldog Bucks!

I want change and I want to voice my opinion!

If there is a problem with anything here at the Dining Hall or Lucky's Kennel, you have a right to voice your opinion! Usually, students fill out comment cards which are available at the Cashier Stands. Not only will one of our managers do their very best to give you an answer, but we will then do our best to change! Your comment card will be posted in a public area within our facility. You may submit a comment card anonymously if you wish. If your question was not answered in a satisfactory manner or you would like to get involved in your dining experience, you may attend the Food Committee meetings which are held once a month. Dates and times are posted on our website, as well as the minutes and photographs we take. Sodexho and TLU would like as much student involvement as possible, so please feel welcome to join us whenever possible.
