
The
Food Committee met on March 5, 2007 in the Timmerman Room at 6:00pm.
Those in attendance were Jim Wilkes, Kimberly Smith, Chef Servantes, Lana
Urbanek, Tessa Baden, Ryan Sladek, Erica Vega, Danny Flink, Kyle Wych and
Danny Clark.
Jim
Wilkes, General Manager of Sodexho Campus Services, read the minutes from the
last meeting. Some concerns from the previous meeting were the
silverware at Hein not being clean. This problem was addressed with
Sodexho staff and has been corrected. Another concern of the committee
was the freshness of the salad's at Lucky's Kennel. Erica Vega, Lucky's
Manager, informed the group that she is now ordering the produce from Sysco
Food Services and that she has had not complaints.
Jim
asked the committee members if they and their peers are using the Dining
Services web-site. The committee members brought it to the Sodexho
staff's attention that most students do not look at the web-site and that
students probably do not know where to look to find information concerning TLU
foodservice. Jim asked to committee for their imput on how to get the
students to check out the web-site. Tessa Baden suggested
that we form a Facebook message group.
The
committee asked the Chef if it was possible to start having "special
breads" at the Deli station at Hein and if sliced roast beef could also
be offered at that station.
Erica
reported to the committee that the credit card machine at Lucky's has been
well accepted by the students and also the faculty. There are still
customer services issue's at Luckys. The Starbuck's coffee line is still a
problem. Some students get frustrated and leave due to having to wait in
line.
Lana
Urbanek talked to the committee about the visit to TCU in Fort Worth last
month. Renovations are planned for Lucky's Kennal in the near future, so
several TLU and Sodexho staff toured the campus dining services at TCU.
TCU is also a Sodexho Campus Dining Services account. The group returned
with serveral ideas that will possibly be offered at Lucky's.
