Attendants: Lana Urbanek, Jim Wilkes, Chef Servantes, Kimberly Smith, Erica Vega, Kyle Wych, Lee Shands, Rebekka Puig, Thomas Snooks, Roderick Chambers, David Haug

The meeting began @ 6:00pm in the Timmerman Room.  The minutes from our last meeting were read by Jim Wilkes.  No meeting was held in December due to the holidays.  The condiment station and hamburger topping station have been moved at Hein to improve the flow in the servery.  The students also brought it to our attention that the silverware at Hein is sometimes not clean.  Jim assured them that we would make our dish room aware of this problem.  

 

The students were glad to see this change.  This was a suggestion at our last meeting.   The students are still concerned about having to wait at Lucky's in line during the lunch rush.  Jim said that Lucky's will hire more staff to help with this problem and Kim will be going over during the rush to help out.  We still have some students not satisfied w/the freshness of the salads at Lucky's.  Jim suggested that we buy from another vendor and hopefully this will provide us with better product for the students. The credit card reader and now up and running at Lucky's Kennel.  The students are thrilled to have this option. Students also voiced their concern about products being out at Lucky's such as chips, grill items and etc.

 
A couple of students asked about the variety of breads that are being offered at the Deli Station at Hein.  Chef informed the students that every week he is going bring in four different breads.  He wants to get feedback from the students on which breads they like best.  The students also asked about having nuts as an option.  Jim said at this time any kind of nut is extremely expensive, but we will have a specialty salad at the innovation station that will substitute as their protein. 
 
Jim informed the committee that this spring, Sodexho will be conducting a survey regarding Hein Dining Hall.  These will be paper surveys.  In the past, Sodexho has conducted these on line and the participation was just not enough to get an accurate account of our dining service. 
 
Lucky's Kennel will be doing some renovations in the upcoming year.  Lana Urbanek discussed the reno with the committee.  We want to give Lucky's Kennel more of a "retail" look.  Terry Truitt came and had some great ideas on what to offer at Lucky's and suggestions for the renovation.  Terry Truitt in the General Manager at Southwestern University in Georgetown w/Sodexho Campus Services.  A small group from TLU and Sodexho Campus Services will be traveling to Texas Christian University in Fort Worth to look at their operation.
 
 
No date has been set for the February meeting.
