Food Committee Meeting
The meeting was called to order promptly at
The committee members were asked if there was any old business to discuss. Lana asked the committee about Cram Jam and if anyone participated in that. The participation was very low all three evenings. The first evening the count was 77, the second evening was 56 and the last night it was 58. Some of the suggestions are as follows:
1. Do we need to continue to have this event?
2. How do we reach more students?
3. It may be more advantageous to have this a few days before finals.
4. Is there enough advertisement?
5. Maybe have cookies and punch in the resident halls instead.
6. A lot of people prefer to study in the ASC.
7. Possibly do juice and donuts in the resident halls in the morning.
8. We are going to look into this and maybe change the format for next year.
Items discussed concerning Lucky's:
1.
2. Price structure was discussed as far as prices in Lucky's vs. prices in the local convenience stores.
3. Jim informed the committee that we had gone to 3 places in town concerning the tacos-he told the committee how they compared to the ones served at Lucky's.
4.
Lana asked what we thought was fair on a 32 oz soda.
Several prices were brought to the table from other locations in
5. Jim informed the committee of the percent increase we have had concerning our products and why we have had to increase the price on several items.
6. The committee also wants the hours extended on Friday evenings in the future. The reason that the time was changed was due to not enough traffic in Lucky's on Friday evening. Many students go home on Friday afternoon for the week end.
Items discussed concerning Hein Dining Hall:
1.
Committee members suggested opening Hein in the morning at
2. The quality of the food is not very good on the week end and there is no variety. They at least would like to see the sandwich line to be open. Chef informed the committee that they can still make a sandwich on the week end.
3. The cups to go are too small at Hein. Need at least a 16 or 20 cup.
4. For students that would like to take soup to go, the 12 oz cup that we are handing out would be perfect for that.
5. The committee members also wanted to know the impact it has made in the kitchen not having the trays any longer. Jim informed the committee that we had some opposition at first, but it well accepted now. The waste of food is down and we are making every attempt to “Go Green at TLU”.
6. Students would like to see an Ice Cream Sundae Bar over at the innovation station once in awhile.
We want to say Thank You to all who attend the meeting and your input you provide to the committee. We would like to say a special thank you to Paul Riser with the Student Senate, for joining us at our January meeting.

meeting will be held on February 26th at
