TLU scores 31 runs Saturday but settles for doubleheader split

Box Score - Gm 1 Box Score - Gm 2 The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs scored 31 runs in a wild and windy doubleheader but only managed a split of the two American Southwest Conference games Saturday against Howard Payne. TLU took game one 21-5 but lost 14-10 in the series finale. The Bulldogs won the conference series 2-1 with the doubleheader split and Friday’s 7-3 win over the Yellow Jackets.

Box Score - Game 1 Box Score - Game 2 SEGUIN, Texas – The Hardin-Simmons Cowgirls limited the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs to two runs Saturday in a doubleheader sweep at TLU’s Morck Field. HSU (15-2, 8-0 ASC West) took the first game 12-2 in five innings and won the second game 10-0 in six innings.

Texas Lutheran ace right-hander Brad Orosey moved to 7-0 in his seven starts of 2010 as the Bulldogs downed Howard Payne 7-3 in American Southwest Conference action. On Friday afternoon at a windy Katt-Isbel Field, Orosey (Houston/Cypress Creek) struck out eight and allowed three runs (two earned) in eight innings of work. He issued just one walk and hit two batters.

Box Score - GM 1 Box Score - GM 2 Hardin-Simmons junior Megann Lewis tossed a perfect game Friday against Texas Lutheran to highlight a conference doubleheader sweep of the Bulldogs at TLU's Morck Field. The Cowgirls won 9-0 in game one and 3-1 in game two. Lewis (Italy/Italy) retired all 15 batters she faced in game one. The game ended after five complete innings because of the eight-run rule.

Chris Green belted a grand slam in the fifth inning to lift the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs to a 9-5 non-conference win Wednesday over Concordia Nebraska. At TLU's Katt-Isbel Field, the Bulldogs trailed 2-1 before Green's blast over the left-field wall. Green, the senior shortstop from Austin (Bowie), finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored and four RBI. TLU, an NCAA Division III squad in the American Southwest Conference, moved to 15-5 overall with the victory. Concordia Nebraska, an NAIA team out of the Great Plains Athletic Conference, dropped to 1-14.

The Schreiner University women posted a tournament-low score of 340 Tuesday in the second round of the Texas Lutheran ConCan Intercollegiate Classic and roared to the tournament title by 17 shots. Texas Lutheran tied for third with a team score of 738. TLU’s Angela Aufderhaar took home second after a second consecutive 83 for a two-day total of 166.

Texas Lutheran and Midland Lutheran split a non-conference softball doubleheader Tuesday at TLU’s Morck Field. TLU won the first game 2-1, and MLC took the second game 7-2. TLU’s overall record now stands at 6-8. MLC holds a 3-5 overall mark. TLU is a member of the NCAA Division III. MLC, out of Fremont, Neb., is a member of the NAIA.

At The Club at ConCan, Aufderhaar (Seguin/Seguin) posted a 39 on the front nine and a 44 on the back nine of the par-72, 5,808-yard course. Aufderhaar leads the tournament by two shots over LeTourneau teammates Leslie Lee and Candice Nishimura, who posted 85s on Monday.
