Applying to TLU
Below are general application instructions for applying to Texas Lutheran University. TLU follows a "rolling admission" policy, which means that an admissions decision is made after the application file is completed by the applicant. An application is considered complete only after
all items on the application checklist have been received.
First Year Applicants:
- A completed application for admission
- $25 non-refundable application fee
- Personal essay/statement, as indicated on the application form
- Official SAT or ACT scores
- Official high school transcript, it should include class rank and cumulative GPA
- Two recommendation forms/letters (one teacher, one counselor)
- Financial Aid Addendum
Transfer Applicants:
- A completed application for admission
- $25 non-refundable application fee
- Personal essay/statement, as indicated on the application form
- Official transcripts from all colleges/universities previously attended
- Official high school transcript; it should include class rank and cumulative GPA
- One recommendation form/letter (teacher or counselor)
- Transfer Addendum
- Financial Aid Addendum
*If a transfer applicant has fewer than 15 transferable hours, in addition to the high school transcript, the applicant must submit official SAT or ACT test scores.
Home Schooled First Year Applicants:
An applicant who has been home schooled is expected to submit all the documents required for regular high school graduation. Due to variations in transcripts, a greater emphasis will be placed on performance on the SAT I or ACT test score. A personal interview may also be requested.
Three-Year Graduates:
An applicant who will be graduating from high school in three years is expected to submit all the documents required for first-year applicants.
GED Graduates:
An applicant submitting a GED in place of the high school diploma will need to submit an official score report from the GED. A personal interview may also be requested.
