TLU Students Raise Awareness for Children of Tanzania

Did you know “watoto” means “children” in the Swahili language? The Watoto Benefit, sponsored by TLU and the Center for Servant Leadership, is an effort to help improve the lives of children in Tanzania. This fall semester, TLU students who are participating in an activity module focused on the watoto, continue the tradition of raising awareness about the lives and challenges of orphans in Tanzania who have been affected by the AIDS/HIV epidemic. Besides not having parents, these children experience extreme poverty, which denies them the opportunity to enjoy their childhood. They need nutritious food, safe shelter, clothes, education, medical care and a chance to be normal happy children.
You, too, can support the family of Tanzania orphaned children, build a relationship with orphans in Tanzania, and be part of the Watoto Benefit.

The Watoto Benefit will take place Sunday, November 17, 2013 at the Seguin Softball Four-Plex at 12-5 p.m.
