TLU tops U.S. News 2013 Best Value in the West List

University ranks third for Best Regional College

SEGUIN, TX – Sept. 13, 2012 – Texas Lutheran University (TLU) is at the top of this year’s U.S. News Best Colleges rankings among colleges in the Western region, ranking third overall, and first on the list for Best Value.

“This recognition highlights two great messages: TLU delivers outstanding quality, at a cost that is affordable. Everyone familiar with TLU already knows that our faculty and staff deliver a consistently superior educational experience and the value of a TLU degree commands great respect in the market,” said TLU President Dr. Stuart Dorsey. “The fact that TLU ranks first as the Best Value among western colleges is especially welcome news to students and parents who are focused on value in this difficult economy.”

Rankings are based on data collected by U.S. News in several categories, including academic reputation, admissions selectivity, faculty resources, retention, graduation rates and alumni support. U.S. News then ranks colleges and universities in classifications based upon region and classification.

TLU earns the No. 1 spot in the West for Best Value based upon its high overall ranking combined with modest net cost of attendance for a student who receives the average level of need-based financial aid. According to U.S. News, the higher the quality of the program and the lower the cost, the better the deal. Only schools ranked in or near the top half of their categories are included, because U.S. News considers the most significant values to be among colleges that are above average academically.
