Dear Parents,

The information on this page of our Web site is primarily for parents whose son or daughter is considering joining a Greek fraternity or sorority on our campus.

Belonging to a fraternity or sorority is often one of the most positive and rewarding experiences of a student’s college life. Students can make lasting friendships, improve their leadership skills, make academic scholarship a priority, and have opportunities that will not only change their community but also touch their spirit. This involvement can be an important part of the transition to adulthood.

I want to ensure that your son or daughter’s experience here at TLU is a positive one, and I am asking for your help. If you ever become aware of any situation that creates a negative or dangerous environment for any of our students, please let us know. Hazing incidents occur rarely but when they do they can create negative consequences for years. Such activities are illegal and will not be tolerated at Texas Lutheran University. All of us – students, parents and TLU faculty and staff – must work together to eliminate negative behaviors within our organizations. I encourage you to contact the Dean of Students office immediately if you have any concerns, and we will work together to resolve them.

I am hopeful the information provided here will be helpful in answering any questions you may have. Thank you for your continued interest in and support of your TLU student.

Sincerely,
Kristi Gold Quiros
Dean of Student Life and Learning
