ABILENE, Texas – Pedro Martinez scored on a free kick with 25 seconds remaining in double overtime to give the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs a 3-2 conference victory Friday over McMurry.
The time of Martinez’s goal was listed as 109:35. For Martinez (Canyon Lake/Smithson Valley), the goal was his sixth of the season.
The win moved TLU’s overall record to 4-10-2 and its American Southwest Conference mark to 4-6-2.
McMurry dropped to 2-11-3 overall and to 0-9-3 in the ASC.
TLU junior Morgan Parker (Humble/Humble) scored the opening goal for the Bulldogs and the goal that tied the match at 2-2. Parker’s first goal came in the 25th minute, and his second came in the 73rd minute.
Andrew Latiolais (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) assisted on the first Parker goal, and Taylor Forseth (San Antonio/Lutheran) assisted on the second goal.
TLU ends its 2009 season on Saturday with a 3 p.m. road match in Abilene against Hardin-Simmons.
