SEGUIN, Texas – The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs scored three goals in a span of four minutes to turn a 1-0 match into a 4-0 victory Friday afternoon over Louisiana College.
At TLU’s Gustafson Field, Morgan Parker (Humble/Humble) started the Bulldog scoring in the sixth minute with his team-leading seventh goal of the season. The junior’s goal was assisted by sophomore Josue Cruz (Houston/Aldine).
Parker added his eighth goal of the season with a shot in the 89th minute.
TLU moved to 3-9-2 overall and to 3-5-2 in the American Southwest Conference. The Bulldogs have posted a record of 3-1-1 over their last five matches.
Louisiana College dropped to 1-16 overall and to 1-9 in the ASC.
After Parker’s first goal of the match, TLU went nearly 81 minutes without another goal before scoring three with less than five minutes to play in regulation. The goals by Pedro Martinez (Canyon Lake/Smithson Valley), Christian Rodriguez (Keller/Keller), and Parker came nearly two minutes apart in the 85th, 87th, and 89th minutes.
The Martinez goal was assisted by Michael Weatherby (San Antonio/New Braunfels Canyon), and Rodriguez’s goal was assisted by Martinez. Karl Ybarra (Fredericksburg/Fredericksburg) assisted on the second Parker goal.
Jonathan Allegra (Friendswood/Friendswood) started in goal for TLU. Allegra made four saves.
TLU kept the ball in Louisiana College territory for most of the match. The Bulldogs out-shot LC 36-7. TLU had a 12-4 advantage in shots on goal.
The Bulldogs conclude the 2009 home schedule with a 3 p.m. contest Saturday against Mississippi College.
