Learn Mexican Folk Dances at TLU in Time for Cinco de Mayo

SEGUIN – The Center for Professional Development is pleased to offer Mexican Folk Dance and Culture for current and prospective Spanish, bilingual education, and physical education teachers, as well as for others in the community who want to learn about Mexican culture through folk dance for their professional or personal development. The course introduces many aspects of Mexican culture through a focus on traditional dances and folklore.
During the course, participants will increase their understanding and appreciation of different cultures, improve their physical condition and well being, and be able to perform a variety of Mexican folk dances.
The course begins on February 19th and continues through April 30th with sessions every Tuesday evening from 7-8:30 p.m. at the TLU Jones Physical Education Complex Aerobics Room. Dr. Ana María González, assistant professor of modern languages at TLU, is the instructor. Participants will earn 1.6 continuing education units (CEUs) and receive a certificate upon completing the course. The course will culminate in a recital at TLU’s Wuppermann Little Theater. The cost of the course is $150.00 for 11 1.5-hour sessions.
