Texas Lutheran Bulldog greats Richard Miller (football), Lili Torres-Ramirez (women’s tennis), Aaron Merhoff (baseball), Craig Saunders (men’s basketball) and Madeline Klasing Williams (women’s volleyball) will be inducted into the Texas Lutheran Athletics Hall of Fame during TLU Homecoming ceremonies this weekend.
TLU also will recognize its Athletics Leadership Wall of Honor Class of 2009. This year’s inductees are the Honorable Edmund Kuempel and Ken and Linda Voges.

Dr. Mark Gilbertson was recognized during Tuesday’s Texas Lutheran women’s volleyball match as the 2009-10 Texas Lutheran Athletics Honorary Coach.

The American Southwest Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) held its annual meeting on Monday (Sept. 21) at the Holiday Inn Select-North Dallas hotel. Each of the ASC’s 15 member institutions were represented with at least one advisor and two student-athletes.
TLU women's volleyball player Jamie Jahns handled vice-chair duties at the meeting.

The American Southwest Conference has partnered with Clear Marketing Concepts in developing a weekly online video production that will highlight student-athletes, coaches, member institutions, games and academics. The show about the 15-member NCAA Division III-affiliated athletic conference will be called ASC All Access and produced every Wednesday throughout the academic year. ASC All Access debuted on Sept. 16. ASC All Access can be viewed by logging onto www.ASCsports.org/AllAccess or through any of the ASC’s 15 member institutions’ athletic websites.

Texas Lutheran University was voted by its peers as the inaugural winner of the American Southwest Conference Sports Information Department of the Year award for the 2008-09 academic season. TLU was honored on Monday (Aug. 4) during the annual ASC SID meeting in Dallas.

Forty-four Texas Lutheran students – student-athletes, student athletic trainers, and student sports information assistants – were named to the American Southwest Conference 2009 All-Academic honor rolls.

The Texas Lutheran women and men’s tennis teams dropped their regular-season finales to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, Friday afternoon at the TLU tennis courts. The TLU men fell 5-3 to UMHB, and the TLU women lost 9-0.

The Texas Lutheran men’s tennis team recorded a 9-0 win Wednesday over Schreiner University in Kerrville, Texas. The TLU women dropped a 7-2 decision to Schreiner, also on Wednesday in Kerrville.

The Texas Lutheran Athletics Notes for April 6, 2009 are now posted. This week's notes include news on women's track and field performances at the McMurry Relays, the baseball and softball teams recent and upcoming games, the men's golf squad's participation in the West Region Invitational, and the conclusion of the tennis seasons.

Saturday at the Texas Lutheran tennis courts, the Texas Lutheran men and the Sul Ross State women each posted American Southwest Conference team tennis victories. The TLU men posted a 9-0 win over Sul Ross State, and the Sul Ross women collected a 9-0 win over TLU.

Howard Payne University posted women and men's tennis victories over Texas Lutheran on Saturday at the TLU tennis courts. The Howard Payne women won 9-0, and the HPU men took a 7-2 victory.

The Texas Lutheran women and men’s tennis teams each dropped American Southwest Conference West Division tennis matches to McMurry on Friday.

The Texas Lutheran men's tennis team posted an 8-1 win Tuesday over Our Lady of the Lake, but OLLU recorded an 8-1 victory over the TLU women.
At the St. Mary’s University tennis courts, the TLU men won five of six singles matches and all three doubles matches against the Saints. All five TLU singles matches were straight-set victories.
On the women’s side, OLLU rebounded from a loss 11 days ago to TLU. The Bulldogs won a 5-4 home match over the Saints on March 6. On Tuesday, the TLU women managed only one victory, a 8-1 win from the No. 1 doubles team of Jennifer Hahn (Houston/Sam Houston) and Blair O’Brien (Austin/Manor).

The Texas Lutheran women and men’s tennis teams posted non-conference victories Friday over Our Lady of the Lake University.
At the TLU tennis courts, the TLU men won 9-0, and the TLU women secured a 5-4 victory.

The St. Mary’s men’s tennis team posted a 6-1 win Thursday over the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs. The win came a day after the St. Mary’s women recorded a 9-0 win over the TLU women.

The Texas Lutheran women's tennis team opened its 2009 campaign with a 9-0 road loss Friday at Southwestern. The Bulldogs' Saturday match with St. Mary's in San Antonio was rained out. TLU's next match is set for March 3, at home against St. Mary's. The Bulldogs' match with Mary Hardin-Baylor, originally scheduled for this Friday, has been moved to 10 a.m. on April 10 (still in Seguin).
