Texas Lutheran Bulldog greats Richard Miller (football), Lili Torres-Ramirez (women’s tennis), Aaron Merhoff (baseball), Craig Saunders (men’s basketball) and Madeline Klasing Williams (women’s volleyball) will be inducted into the Texas Lutheran Athletics Hall of Fame during TLU Homecoming ceremonies this weekend.
TLU also will recognize its Athletics Leadership Wall of Honor Class of 2009. This year’s inductees are the Honorable Edmund Kuempel and Ken and Linda Voges.

Dr. Mark Gilbertson was recognized during Tuesday’s Texas Lutheran women’s volleyball match as the 2009-10 Texas Lutheran Athletics Honorary Coach.

The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs took home 12th place at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Lady Crusader Fall Invitational, completed Tuesday at Wildflower Country Club in Salado, Texas.

The American Southwest Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) held its annual meeting on Monday (Sept. 21) at the Holiday Inn Select-North Dallas hotel. Each of the ASC’s 15 member institutions were represented with at least one advisor and two student-athletes.
TLU women's volleyball player Jamie Jahns handled vice-chair duties at the meeting.

The American Southwest Conference has partnered with Clear Marketing Concepts in developing a weekly online video production that will highlight student-athletes, coaches, member institutions, games and academics. The show about the 15-member NCAA Division III-affiliated athletic conference will be called ASC All Access and produced every Wednesday throughout the academic year. ASC All Access debuted on Sept. 16. ASC All Access can be viewed by logging onto www.ASCsports.org/AllAccess or through any of the ASC’s 15 member institutions’ athletic websites.

Texas Lutheran senior Angela Aufderhaar (Seguin/Seguin) captured the TLU Lady Bulldog Fall Classic Tuesday.
Aufderhaar punctuated her six-shot win with a final-round 73 at her home course, Max Starcke Park Municipal Golf Course.
Aufderhaar, the American Southwest Conference runner-up in 2009, posted rounds of 77 and 73 for a final tournament score of 150.

The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor shot an opening-round 326 Monday to take a seven-shot lead into Tuesday’s final round of the Texas Lutheran Lady Bulldog Fall Classic.
At Max Starcke Park Municipal Golf Course, the Crusaders put four players in the Top 10 on day one. Courtney Nelson led the way with a 79.
Nelson is two shots off the individual lead, held by TLU’s Angela Aufderhaar. The Bulldog opened her senior year with a 77.

Texas Lutheran University was voted by its peers as the inaugural winner of the American Southwest Conference Sports Information Department of the Year award for the 2008-09 academic season. TLU was honored on Monday (Aug. 4) during the annual ASC SID meeting in Dallas.

Forty-four Texas Lutheran students – student-athletes, student athletic trainers, and student sports information assistants – were named to the American Southwest Conference 2009 All-Academic honor rolls.

Texas Lutheran’s Angela Aufderhaar finished second by four shots at the 2009 American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament, and the junior from Seguin came away with the conference’s Women’s Golf Sportsmanship Athlete of the Year honor.

Texas Lutheran junior Angela Aufderhaar is the first-round leader at the 2009 American Southwest Conference Women’s Golf Championships. Aufderhaar (Seguin/Seguin) posted a 4-over-par 76 on Monday at the Hurricane Creek Country Club in Anna, Texas.

Texas Lutheran’s Angela Aufderhaar has been named the American Southwest Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for a second straight week. Aufderhaar, a junior from Seguin (Seguin), fired rounds of 85 and 89 in placing fifth overall at the University of California-Santa Cruz Invitational at Pasatiempo Golf Course in Santa Cruz, Calif.

The Texas Lutheran women’s golf team posted a third-place team finish Tuesday at the conclusion of the University of California at Santa Cruz Invite. At the Pasatiempo Golf Course, TLU placed behind fellow NCAA Division III schools UC-Santa Cruz and George Fox (Ore.) in the team standings. The Bulldogs carded rounds of 388 and 392 in the two-day tournament.

The Texas Lutheran women's golf team, propelled by a third-place finish from Angela Aufderhaar, took fifth place Tuesday at the TLU Concan Intercollegiate Classic.

Angela Aufderhaar and Carly Hansen led Texas Lutheran to a fourth-place showing after round one of the TLU Concan Intercollegiate, played Monday at the The Club at Concan.
The Bulldogs opened the tournament with a 372 team score. TLU trails only Southwestern (324), Trinity (351) and McMurry (360) in the tournament.
