Texas Lutheran Bulldog greats Richard Miller (football), Lili Torres-Ramirez (women’s tennis), Aaron Merhoff (baseball), Craig Saunders (men’s basketball) and Madeline Klasing Williams (women’s volleyball) will be inducted into the Texas Lutheran Athletics Hall of Fame during TLU Homecoming ceremonies this weekend.

TLU also will recognize its Athletics Leadership Wall of Honor Class of 2009. This year’s inductees are the Honorable Edmund Kuempel and Ken and Linda Voges.

The Texas Lutheran women’s cross country team finished fourth in the team standings at the 2009 American Southwest Conference Women’s Cross Country Championships.

Despite being limited to four healthy runners, the Texas Lutheran women’s cross country team hosted and participated in the TLU Invitational on Saturday morning.

McMurry's Carla Lewis finished second overall and led her McMurry teammates to the women's cross country team title at the Texas DIII Championships, contested Saturday at Texas Lutheran University.

TLU finished in fifth place in the women's standings. TLU received an eighth-place finish from junior Tiffany Wetz (Spring Branch/Bracken Christian/UT-San Antonio) and a 11th-place showing from freshman Chelsea Johnson (Katy/Cinco Ranch).

The Texas Lutheran Athletics Notes for Sept. 22 are now online. This week's notes include news items on women's cross country, men's golf, football, women's volleyball, women's soccer and men's soccer.

The American Southwest Conference has partnered with Clear Marketing Concepts in developing a weekly online video production that will highlight student-athletes, coaches, member institutions, games and academics. The show about the 15-member NCAA Division III-affiliated athletic conference will be called ASC All Access and produced every Wednesday throughout the academic year. ASC All Access debuted on Sept. 16.

ASC All Access can be viewed by logging onto www.ASCsports.org/AllAccess or through any of the ASC’s 15 member institutions’ athletic websites.

The 25th Annual Bulldog 5K will be held Saturday, Nov. 7 as part of the Texas Lutheran Homecoming festivities on the weekend of Nov. 6-8.

In addition to the Bulldog 5K, which is scheduled for an 8:30 a.m. start on the TLU campus, a Kids 1K will also be contested. The Kids 1K will start at 8 a.m.

First-year runners Chelsea Johnson (Katy/Cinco Ranch) and Samantha Gutierrez (Converse/Judson) were the top two finishers for the Texas Lutheran women's cross country team at the Texas State Invitational, held Saturday morning in San Marcos, Texas.

The Texas Lutheran women’s cross country season started Tuesday morning at the Trinity Opener, held at San Antonio’s Olmos Park.

TLU junior Tiffany Wetz (Spring Branch/Bracken Christian/Texas-San Antonio) was the top Bulldog finisher. Wetz placed ninth overall with a two-mile time of 13 minutes, 10 seconds.

The Texas Lutheran women's cross country team started its practice schedule Wednesday, and now its preseason schedule is in full force. Check out a brief video of the Bulldogs at practice on Thursday, Aug. 20.
