All you do is say “Yes,” and we do the rest! Freshman Mandy Martindale and other real TLU students, not anonymous call center employees, are calling alumni and friends until Oct. 2. In addition to raising money, students will give you a big Bulldog “Thank You” for your past support, tell you about upcoming events and verify important information. Following the call, watch your mailbox for a pledge card or go online to www.tlu.edu and make your donation. Thank you for supporting TLU students and the 2008 TLU Phon-a-thon! Growing and Giving
Excellence in Leadership – TLU will honor business executive Graham Weston at the eighth annual Excellence in Leadership Dinner, Nov. 19. Weston, a former member of the university’s Board of Regents, is the chairman of Rackspace® Hosting, Inc.
Weston became involved with Rackspace in late 1998, when he decided to invest in the start-up company and assist with corporate strategy, marketing and business development. As CEO, he focused his time and energy on setting the direction for Rackspace as it carved out a leadership position in the Internet infrastructure market. Now, as chairman, Weston takes charge of corporate strategy, business development and mergers and acquisitions activity.
TLU’s Excellence in Leadership Dinner will be held at the Westin Riverwalk Hotel in downtown San Antonio and proceeds will support the university’s Presidential Award for Leadership and Service Endowed Scholarship Fund.
The TLU Excellence in Leadership Dinner annually honors business, community, and civic leaders. Past honorees include John Montford, Judge Nelson Wolff and Tracy Wolff, The Rev. Dr. Louis H. Zbinden Jr. and Katherine “Kip” Zbinden, Nancy Loeffler, Ed Whitacre, the late Gen. Robert Herres, and Gov. Dolph Briscoe.
Individual tickets to the dinner begin at $175, and tables for 10 are also available. For more information on the Excellence in Leadership Dinner, contact the TLU development office at 830-372-8030.
