Spring Choir Tour set – For the 78
th year, the TLU Choir will present its annual Spring Tour Concert March 22-27. This year, under the direction of Dr. Douglas R. Boyer, associate professor of music and director of the TLU School of Music, the Texas Lutheran University Choir, Women’s Choir and Kantorei Chamber Choir will be presenting “Lamb of God” at churches in the Houston and San Antonio areas (see schedule

“Lamb of God” is a varied and highly eclectic program with music from Bach and Brahms to Eric Whitacre and Libby Larsen. A new addition to the tour this year is the string quartet directed by Dr. Denise Peterson, assistant professor of music.
In addition to the formal concerts, the students will be performing a series of outreach concerts in the Houston area. The choirs will be performing at a care center for people living with HIV / AIDS, an Alzheimer’s care facility, and also a hospice facility.

Scoreboard
All-time win leader – TLU head baseball coach Bill Miller became the all-time wins leader in Bulldog baseball history with his 502
nd and 503
rd career victories Saturday, Feb. 24 as the Bulldogs swept a doubleheader from the University of the Ozarks. The two wins Saturday moved Miller’s all-time coaching mark (in 15 years at TLU) to 503-181-2. His winning percentage of .735 is the highest winning percentage for any coach in TLU athletics history.
Miller entered Saturday’s game needing two victories to surpass his mentor, TLU Hall of Famer Ray Katt, for the TLU record for baseball coaching wins. Katt retired in 1992 after 22 seasons as the Bulldogs’ head coach. Katt retired with 502 wins, 362 losses and 2 ties. Katt’s teams won six Big State Conference Championships and four NAIA District IV titles.
Miller has led the Bulldogs to back-to-back American Southwest Conference titles and to back-to-back NCAA DIII West Region runner-up finishes. The Bulldogs have won four of the last five ASC West Division Championships. Ranked 14th in NCAA DIII this season, the Bulldogs have an 11-0 record, defeating Trinity 5-0 on Feb. 27. TLU returns to ASC play Friday and Saturday with a three-game series in Tyler against the University of Texas-Tyler.
