Owner and handler Valerie Laubach announced this week that after nine years of dedicated service to Texas Lutheran University, Louie the Bulldog is retiring. As TLU's unofficial mascot, Louie has been a constant presence for more almost a decade at tailgating, graduation, and numerous campus events. TLU would like to extend our gratitude and appreciation to Louie and his owner for their steadfast support of the university and its students, faculty, and staff.

"When you work with an animal companion and partner for nine years, you learn to read them and take their mental and physical well being as first priority," Laubach said. "Louie is, and always will be, the best companion I have ever had the pleasure to work with. As some of you may have noticed, Louie has been showing signs that he has decided it's time to take some rest, do some new one-on-one activities with me, and help bring in a new mascot who will try very hard to fill his shoes sometime next year. I want to thank you all for the love you have shown and given to the awesome little dog with a very big heart that will always belong to you and Texas Lutheran University."
