October 05, 2012
Texas Lutheran University (TLU) is proud to announce the appointment of Rick Roberts, Vice President of Development and Alumni Relations. As former Interim Vice President for University Advancement at Trinity, Roberts joins TLU with more than 20 years of experience in private university fundraising.
While at Trinity, Roberts supervised the departments of Major and Planned Giving, Annual Giving, Corporate and Foundation Relations, Advancement Services and Alumni Relations. His history of fundraising within the Greater San Antonio area brings knowledge and insight to TLU.
“Rick’s experience at a private, liberal arts college, as well as his strong familiarity with the San Antonio community, are terrific assets to our university,” said TLU President Dr. Stuart Dorsey. “He brings with him a solid foundation to help TLU continue to foster personal and professional growth, increase alumni participation and expand our friend and donor base.”
From his beginnings as a development officer to heading the major gifts team, Roberts led his staff through the successful completion of a $200 million capital campaign; the largest in Trinity’s history. He looks forward to becoming part of TLU’s mission, vision and culture.
“TLU’s advancement program is poised for a new level of engagement with university alumni and friends,” Roberts said. “My time at Trinity taught me the importance of relationship building, being a servant leader and the value of a liberal arts education. I believe my experience, energy and entrepreneurial spirit will provide leadership and offer a strategic framework for capital campaign planning and execution.”
Roberts holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and a master’s degree in higher education administration from New Mexico State University.
