Student Leader of The Month: Cailee Willis
May 2, 2019
Cailee Willis is a compassionate leader in her community and on campus. She has been the event coordinator for TLU's Center for Servant Leadership (CSL) for almost four years and is completing her degree in the Master of Accountancy program. Through her role at the CSL, Willis has helped to plan seven large days of service (H.O.T. Dogs and Day of the Dogs) collectively impacting dozens of nonprofit community partners and hundreds of TLU students. She understands that being part of the Seguin community opens your eyes to a number of local needs and connects you through campus involvement.
She often leads by example and treats others with respect and grace which is a mutual benefit for anyone who knows her. In fall 2018, Willis assisted with planning a new program at TLU, the Oxfam Hunger Banquet, to spread awareness about hunger and food insecurity in Guadalupe County. Bringing this event to campus fulfilled her dream to increase awareness and have a conversation about issues regarding food scarcity.
In addition to her work with the CSL, she is a member of the student organization EnAct, an employee of the campus greenhouse, and serves as supplemental instructor for the Business Administration and Economics Department. When she graduates, Willis will be working as an accountant with the ultimate goal to eventually tie her interests in fair trade, business, and social responsibility together. She believes that businesses should be managed with a social conscience that monitors its environmental and economic impact on society.
