Senior Emily Braun Receives Ed Whitacre Scholarship
December 19, 2016
Senior Emily Braun joins only 10 other San Antonio-area students as a 2016 Ed Whitacre Scholar. Named after the former chairman and CEO of General Motors and AT&T, all of this year’s recipients were recently honored at the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Gala.
The Chamber Foundation recognized Braun, a double major in psychology and sociology, as a rising leader among local college students. Sponsored by the AT&T Foundation, the program awarded Braun $10,000 with the full amount of scholarships totaling $100,000. All Ed Whitacre Scholars will also be paired with mentors for the next year to assist in their continued professional development and growth.
“This year’s recipients represent a great cross-section of our community to include first-generation students, parents returning to school to complete their educational dreams, innovators, and a future member of our military,” said Richard Perez, president & CEO of the San Antonio Chamber. “These scholars will help move our future forward with their ingenuity, innovation and grit.”
