As Texas Lutheran University continues to process the ongoing needs associated with Hurricane Harvey, our Center for Servant Leadership has organized several opportunities assisting in relief efforts to support our neighbors in southeast Texas. The Bulldog community stands together with everyone affected, including many of our students, their families, alumni, faculty, and staff. We encourage you to help in these efforts if you are able.

Monetary Donations

Please know that monetary donations go a long way in times of disaster relief and a variety of local, on-the-ground organizations that are asking for this type of help. Visit see a list of these organizations or make an online donation.

San Antonio Food Bank

The SA Food Bank is distributing items directly to individuals impacted by the storm. Drop-off locations on-campus include all residence hall lobbies, the Center for Servant Leadership (Hahn Hall Annex), and the Alumni Student Center. We will collect items and bring them to the SA Food Bank through September 15, and potentially longer than that depending on how needs change.

Supplies Needed

  • Nonperishable Food Items (UNOPENED & UNEXPIRED): canned beans, canned fruits, canned vegetables, dry beans, baby food, canned soups, instant potatoes, water, rice, dry pasta, peanut butter, and jelly.
  • Supplies: diapers, flashlights, batteries, cleaning supplies, and hygiene items.
  • Clothing (MUST BE NEW & UNUSED): men’s & women’s tops, men’s & women’s pants, undergarments, and socks.

Disaster Relief Kits

We are also building kits through Upbring Disaster Response to distribute to families and individuals staying in shelters and/or returning to their homes. If you are able to work together with peers, faculty, student organizations, churches, etc. to create full and complete kits, that is definitely appreciated. We are also accepting individual items to create the kits on campus. Please drop off completed kits or individual items at the Center for Servant Leadership.
