Austin-based Entrepreneur Wes Peoples ’78 Named TLU Board Chairman
October 28, 2014
Recently selected to lead Texas Lutheran University’s Board of Regents, Wes Peoples is the founder and president of Wes Peoples Homes. A TLU alumnus, Peoples ’78 is well known for his success in the homebuilding business. He is a former senior officer at Meritage Home Corp., co-founder of Wilshire Homes, and founder of WJP Construction Services, LLC. He began the Austin-based Wes Peoples Homes in 2011. Peoples will serve a two-year term at TLU.
“I could not be more pleased that the Board has selected Wes Peoples as its next chair,” said TLU President Dr. Stuart Dorsey. “Wes brings a rich portfolio to the job—successful entrepreneur, considerable experience in nonprofit leadership and knowledge of TLU as an alumnus. He is the right person at the right time to build upon the tremendous strides that Texas Lutheran University has made under our previous board chair, Robin Melvin. TLU is in very capable hands.”
Peoples is also involved with HousingWorks Austin and Foundation Communities, as well as the Austin Children’s Shelter and the Texas Child Study Center at Dell Children’s Hospital. He graduated from TLU in 1978 with a degree in political science and has served on the Board of Regents since 2012.
