14. Reference Sources


Reference Sources serve a variety of purposes.  They can provide:  background or introductory information on a topic, ways of finding materials on a topic, and/or statistical or tabular data as well as technical instruction.

Common reference sources include...dictionaries, handbooks and manuals, directories, guides to literature, biographical, statistical and reference sources as wells as paper indexes and abstracts.





They are good starting points for any research project or problem.

All types of reference sources can be found in the Reference stacks of the Blumberg Memorial Library on the east end of the first floor, adjacent to the Reference Desk.
