7. Subject Areas


Some databases are general or interdisciplinary in coverage. Other databases cover a specific discipline such as engineering, art, science, etc.

Here are some examples of subject specific databases:

Some examples of databases without a specific subject focus include:

  • Academic Search Fulltext Premier: Provides full text for nearly 3,200 scholarly publications covering academic areas of study including social sciences, humanities, education, computer sciences, engineering, language and linguistics, arts & literature, medical sciences, and ethnic studies.
     
  • MasterFILE Premier: Provides full text for nearly 1,880 periodicals covering nearly all subjects including general reference, business, health, etc.
     
  • Facts on File: Brings together complete content from the Facts On File World News Digest since 1940 and selected content from six other core reference databases
