Google Scholar Advanced Search
To decrease the number of hits:
  • Exact Phrase box - enter a search phrase such as "health care reform"
  • Date box - enter a range of publication dates such as 1999-2009
  • Subject boxes - checkmark only one area, such as "Business, Administration, Finance, and Economics"

World Cat Advanced Search
To decrease the number of hits:
  • Title box - enter a search phrase such as "health care reform"
  • Year - enter a range of publication dates such as 1999-2009
  • Audience - select "Not juvenile"
  • Content - select "Non-fiction"
  • Format - select "Book"
  • Language - select "English"

Once you obtain a citation to a journal article or book, request the item through your public library unless you are attending a higher education institution. If you are a college student, go to the library's Web site and use the library's catalog or electronic databases to see if they already can provide you immediate access. Your library can obtain the item for you through Interlibrary Loan if it is not immediately available through its on-site or electronic resource collection.
