Complete facility use policies and procedures are available elsewhere.
Basic Policies – All uses of the library should be compatible with an academic atmosphere. All unused rooms remain locked during library hours. Room keys for reserved rooms are checked out and returned at the circulation desk. Equipment is not provided with the rooms, so any necessary library equipment or machines must be reserved and checked out separately. Library materials used for more than one class period must be checked out.
Soft drinks and water are allowed in secure containers only (e.g., bottles with screw-on tops, hard plastic cups with snap-on lids). Drinks in fountain cups, open cups or cans, paper cups or other containers are not allowed. Food is not allowed in the library.
The library is open to the general public. Members of the general public may use collection items in-house and may use the library’s research computers. However, use of special library equipment and facilities is limited to TLU students, faculty, and staff. Members of the general public are not allowed to log their own equipment onto the campus network.
The library’s second floor is reserved for quiet study activities. The library’s lower level is arranged to accommodate classes, group study, and other collaborative activities. We ask that users honor these divisions in order to enhance everyone’s library experience. Groups may be asked to move to a study room or to the lower level if the noise level is too great.
Security cameras are in operation at the circulation desk and entrance/exit, in the computer lab, and at the rear fire exits. These devices are intended to ensure the safety of the facility. Cameras do not record users’ reading, studying, or computing activities.
Damages – The individual who signs out a key for a room is responsible for any damage to the room. When damage is discovered the room will remain unavailable until arrangements for repairs are made with the responsible party.
Library Special Facilities – Users should contact the circulation desk (ext. 8100) to reserve special rooms or other library facilities. The person making the reservation is responsible for returning room arrangements and contents to original positions.
Classroom A/Academic Support Room – This classroom is available for use by small classes of 20 or fewer students. It is also used for supplemental instruction sessions or by tutors. This classroom may also be used for small faculty or staff meetings. As a rule, student group meetings or group study sessions do not take place in this classroom. Non-class sessions must be scheduled in advance at the circulation desk.
Library Computer Instruction Lab – The library houses an instruction lab with 20 computer workstations. This lab is used for library instruction and faculty development sessions; it may also be booked for occasional use by classes. The lab is not open for use by individual student, faculty and staff members.
ADA Computing Equipment/Accessibility – Students who request accommodations for sight impairments or learning disabilities should be referred to TLU’s ADA Coordinator (Extension 8009).
