Full-Time Position in Art

Texas Lutheran University invites applications for a tenure-track, full-time position in art at the assistant professor level, to begin August 2009.   The position requires active participation and excellent teaching in introductory and upper level art lectures and studio.  An ideal candidate will be prepared to teach painting, drawing, and design. Experience in computer graphics and ceramics would be considered a plus.

Tenure-Track Position in Physics

The Department of Physics offers a B.A. in physics and a B.A. in applied science as part of a 3/2 engineering program. We anticipate that most of our students will continue their education in physics, astronomy, applied physics, or engineering.  The department has 60 physics and pre-engineering students and is the fastest growing program on campus.  The individual who joins us will have the opportunity to contribute substantially to the direction and quality of this effort.

  • Doctorate in either music or music education (master’s may be considered with extensive performing experience)

Reporting to the provost are several program directors, including the director of athletics, the campus pastor and the head librarian.

Area Coordinator

Texas Lutheran University invites applications for the position of Area Coordinator in the Residence Life Department.  The Area Coordinator will provide educational, social, and community development programming; supervise paraprofessional Resident Assistants; adjudicate student conduct cases; oversee 1-3 buildings housing 175-300 students; maintain occupancy records, facility reports, area budget, and other housing information; assist with paraprofessional staff selection, training, and evaluation; assist with housing contracts and assignments; and serve as a primary resource and advisor for students.

Position requirements include:
  • Bachelor’s degree; master’s degree preferred
  • A minimum of 1 year experience in residence life and housing at a college or university, to include a combination of programming, supervision, student conduct, and mediation

Assistant Athletic Trainer (10 Month Position)

Texas Lutheran University invites applications and nominations for the position of Assistant Athletic Trainer to assist in the administration of all facets of athletic training services and the clinical education program for student athletic trainers.  This is a full time 10-month position from mid-July through mid-May.

  • Must be licensed (or eligible) by the Texas Department of Health, Advisory Board of Athletic Trainers (L.A.T.)

Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations

Texas Lutheran University invites nominations and applications for an experienced and effective fund-raiser to serve as Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations.  The Vice President provides strategic vision, leadership, overall management, staff supervision, and coordination of the operational (financial and staffing) requirements for all fund raising and alumni relations.  The Vice President is also a member of the President’s Cabinet (TLU’s Senior Leadership Team), responsible for advising and working with the President on a variety of institutional issues.

Specific areas of responsibility include:  annual giving; planned giving; major gifts; capital campaigns; special projects; grant writing; moves management; gift-tracking; donor recognition; and alumni relations.

Position requirements include:
  • Seven years experience in development; higher education experience preferred.
  • Proven record of fund-raising success
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to effectively build, manage and develop a team of fund-raising and alumni relations professionals
  • Working knowledge of relevant computer programs (e.g., Microsoft Office, Raiser’s Edge)
  • Willingness to travel, largely within the state of Texas
  • Understanding of and appreciation for the mission of church-related higher education
