Student Employment Process

Student completes the application form, which can be downloaded from the Internet or picked up in the offices of Career Services, Financial Aid, or Human Resources.

Student takes the application to the supervisor named in the position posting.

Supervisor interviews applicants.

Supervisor notifies the selected student.

Supervisor completes the Payroll Authorization form and gives it to the selected student.

Student takes the Payroll Authorization form and original documents showing proof of identity and proof of eligibility to work in the U.S. (most people bring a driver’s license and a social security card) to the Office of Human Resources and completes the I-9 and W-4 forms. We cannot process the I-9 without these documents; please call 8017 for more information.  No student may begin work without completing these two forms.

Human Resources signs off on the Payroll Authorization form and sends the original, plus the I-9 and W-4 forms, to Payroll.

Human Resources sends a copy of the Payroll Authorization form to the hiring supervisor, thereby notifying them that the employee is cleared to begin working.
