Women’s Retreat: Take Me Home Country Roads
July 20 2018 - July 21 2018 | Location: Jackson Park
The Texas Lutheran Women’s Retreat is around the bend. This year’s retreat theme is “Take Me Home Country Roads" and will feature a special performance on Friday, July 20, by South Texas country musician and award-winning Christian artist Clifton Jansky. Janksy has opened shows for Gary Morris, Lee Greenwood, Tanya Tucker, Eddie Rabbitt, and Holly Dunn. He was the 2001 CCMA New Artist of the Year, 2002 CCMA Male Vocalist of the Year, 2004 CCMA Entertainer of the Year and the 2005 CCMA Songwriter of the Year.
Proceeds from the concert are a fundraiser for the Women’s Retreat and all proceeds will be donated to TLU. Tickets are $25 for adults and student tickets are $20 at the door. Space is limited, so please ticket purchased in advance if possible on on Eventbrite.
On Saturday, alumnae, Mary Ann Springer Moore and Lisa Burkhardt Worley will provide inspirational messages. Springer Moore, a former volleyball athlete on the three-time national championship team, is a popular Christian speaker in Northern California, as well as a mentor for women and teens. Worley is the founder of Pearls of Promise Ministries, played basketball at TLU, and is a Christian speaker, radio show host and award-winning author of six books.
The cost of this year’s retreat is $125 before June 15 and $130 after that date. This cost includes all meals, entertainment, and lodging in the TLU apartments. For those not spending the night on campus, the cost is $90. For more information or an application, please contact organizers Carol Oster Kripner, Lisa Burkhardt Worley, or Mary Anne Springer Moore.
