2nd Annual Community Literacy Event
October 27, 2018 1:00 PM - 4:30 PM | Location: Tschoepe Hall
This free literacy event is structured in a way that allows students to rotate through three stations. Free snacks and books will be provided and participants are encouraged to dress up like their favorite book character. Participants should arrive before 1:00 pm and plan to stay until 4:30 pm in order to participate in all the scheduled activities. Parents/guardians are required to stay with their children during this event.

12:30 - 1:00 Check-in [Students and parents sign in at Tschoepe Hall and meet in Dunne Conference Center]
1:00 - 1:15 Opening activities: Introductions (Group leaders will gather the students assigned to their group)
1:15 - 1:20 Students transition from the Opening Activities to the classroom for their first literacy station.
1:20 - 2:05 Literacy Station One
2:05 - 2:10 Students transition from Literacy Station One to Literacy Station Two
2:10 - 2:55 Literacy Station Two
2:55 - 3:00 Students transition from Literacy Station Two to Literacy Station Three
3:00 - 3:45 Literacy Station Three
3:45 - 3:50 Students transition from Literacy Station Three to Common Area for closing activities: free books and snacks.
3:50 - 4:30 Closing Activities: free books and snacks
Each station will involve students engaging in an interactive story experience as an SEA member reads a text and then facilitates an activity related to the story. Students will be divided into groups based on their current grade levels as noted below.
Group 1: K and 1st Grade
Group 2: 2nd Grade and 3rd Grade
Group 3: 4th Grade and 5th Grade
