Front Row 2020 with Verne Lundquist and Bill Raftery

“With a kiss!,”a signature phrase heard during almost every basketball telecast, is Bill Raftery’s patented line for a basketball bank shot. This year at the 17th annual Front Row gala, Bill Raftery will share the stage with CBS-TV sportscaster and TLU alumnus and regent, Verne Lundquist. As is the Front Row tradition, Lundquist will conduct a live, on-stage interview with Bill Raftery about, but not limited to, his last 25 years as the excitable announcer who has covered basketball as an analyst on television and radio for CBS, ESPN, and CBS Radio. The evening includes a reception, an elegant dinner, and silent and live auctions with autographed sports memorabilia and other amazing items.

The NCAA Tournament and Final Four, the Big East Championship, the Big Ten Championship, the ACC Championship, the SEC Championship and New Jersey Nets telecasts are just a few of the premier events that Bill has had the privilege of calling during his career. Raftery brings his playing and coaching experience to every telecast, offering keen analysis and opinion during the games. He began his broadcasting career in 1982 with ESPN, where he serves as a game analyst for college basketball. During that same year, he also distinguished himself as an analyst on CBS’s college basketball coverage. He has served as a game analyst for Westwood One/CBS Radio’s coverage of the NCAA Men’s Final Four since 1991. He is also currently one of the lead analysts for CBS Television’s coverage of the NCAA Tournament.

Recently, Raftery has been signed by FOX Sports as one of their premier college basketball analysts after an illustrious career with ESPN.

Front Row is an annual fundraising gala benefitting TLU’s 18 NCAA Division III intercollegiate athletics teams. Since its inception in 2004, the event has raised more than $1 million.
