Advanced Placement Summer Institute
in Taxco and Mexico City, Mexico - 2009
CANCELLATION NOTICE - APRIL 28, 2009
As you know, U.S. officials have advised Americans against most travel to Mexico because of the swine flu virus that began there and has spread to the United States and beyond. This travel alert extends through July 27, 2009. No one knows how long this health risk will last or the extent of the risk. While it may be over by the time our workshops are scheduled to begin in June, we at TLU want to do what is in the best interests of teacher-participants and our consultants. We know that if we wait too long to make a decision, it will be more difficult for you to find alternative workshops in the United States. Therefore, it is with regret that we have decided to cancel this year’s Advanced Placement Summer Institutes in Mexico. It is our hope that we will be able to offer these sessions in Mexico to teachers across the United States next year.
TLU is offering four of the five workshops planned for Mexico (all except Spanish Literature) on campus in Seguin, Texas, this summer. We would love to have you join us here in July. Information about the workshops is at www.tlu.edu/apsi.
